The laws for insurance have changed now and this is what has made women’s car insurance a lot less cheap than what it used to be at one point in time. These new laws now bar insurers from looking into the gender of an applicant when judging the premium that should be charged of him or her. As has been said already, this is what has perhaps made finding reasonable auto insurance for women that bit harder. These laws have been in effect for more than 6 years now and there is no doubt that they have had a bad effect on the women drivers.
They now have to pay more in order to get car insurance. Stats say that till a point of time the car insurance premium for women was as much as 50 percent cheaper compared to what men had to pay for the same policy. However, these things do not apply for car insurance woman driver anymore. Insurers are now being forced to revise their rates in order to even up things and this meant that there is a sharp rise in the car insurance costs for women.
This has especially hurt women under the age group of 25 years. They now have to bear the brunt as it were by paying premiums that are comparable to men drivers in their age group. It is common knowledge that drivers in that age group are the riskiest as they are highly likely to be involved in more than their fair share of accidents. In fact, translated into monetary terms woman's car insurance used to be 1000 dollars or thereabouts cheaper than men in a year. This was applicable even for female drivers under the age of 22 years.
